Features & Benefits
The Flexitouch system offers several important features that benefit the patient.
Feature |
Benefit |
|
Chest and Trunk Decongestion |
Unlike typical compression pumps, the Flexitouch system first decongests the core of the body (chest and trunk). This prepares the healthy and intact lymphatics in the central part of the body to receive excess fluid (lymph) from the affected areas. |
|
Comfortable Garments |
The garments are made of soft, latex-free, four-way stretch fabric with adjustable hook-and-loop closures. The garments fit a wide variety of sizes and can be easily adjusted as the patient’s limb size reduces. |
|
Customizable Settings |
The Flexitouch controller unit offers 13 different treatment programs and two pressure settings. This flexibility allows clinicians to customize the therapy for each patient. When the settings are readjusted, the controller will “remember” the new settings for the next therapy session. |
|
Stimulation of Lymphatics |
The 26-32 chambers of the Flexitouch system inflate and deflate in a work-and-release action, simulating a therapist’s hand motion when applying a stretch against the skin. This light, variable pressure is known to stimulate the lymphatics and help evacuate affected areas during treatment. |
|
Directional Therapy |
The garments are designed to provide directional therapy via curved chambers. This design feature follows the anatomy of the lymphatics, redirecting fluid along existing pathways similar to MLD therapy. |
|
Ease of Use |
The convenience and ease of automated at-home therapy helps patients maintain the benefits gained with in-clinic treatment. |
