Kathleen Francis, MD

Kathleen Francis is the Medical Director and Course Instructor of Klose Training & Consulting, LLC in Red Bank, New Jersey, as well as Clinical Director, Lymphedema Treatment Center at the St. Barnabas Ambulatory Care Center, Livingston, NJ. She graduated from the University of Medicine and Dentistry-New Jersey Medical School, Newark, NJ, in 1989.

Her past clinical positions included Director of Outreach Services, Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation, 1996-2004; Clinical Director, Kessler-Lerner Lymphedema Services, 1997-2004; Clinical Director, ALS Clinic Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation, 1994-2004.

Dr. Francis has lectured extensively in numerous clinical and academic settings such as Kessler Rehabilitation Institute, W. Orange, NJ; Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, NJ; UMDNJ Medical School, Newark, NJ; and the International National Lymphedema Network Conferences. Currently, Dr. Francis treats patients in her private practice with a special focus on lymphedema.

Dr. Francis draws from many years of experience treating patients with lymphedema. Among numerous awards and honors, she was selected for “Best Doctors in New York,” New York Magazine, 2001, 2002 and 2003.

Harvey N. Mayrovitz, PhD

Dr. Harvey N. Mayrovitz received his graduate training at the University of Pennsylvania and did his postdoctoral work at Temple University School of Medicine and at the Graduate Hospital in Philadelphia. He also trained at the Medical Faculty and Hospital in Rotterdam and at Delft University in the Netherlands.

From 1995 to 1998, he served as the Director of Research at the Miami Heart Research Institute. He joined Nova Southeastern University in 1998 and is now a professor of physiology in the College of Medical Sciences. His teaching areas include cardiovascular and pulmonary physiology in the Colleges of Medicine and Dentistry and in the School of Allied health and Nursing. He serves on several university committees related to basic and applied medical research. His research areas include cardiopulmonary, lymphedema, ulcer prevention and wound healing, and noninvasive clinical and biophysical studies for diagnosis and therapy. He has authored over 100 scientific peer-reviewed publications in these and related areas. Dr. Mayrovitz continues his research activities with the most current research focused on developing ways to assess and to better understand processes associated with lymphedema detection, progression and its treatment.

Stanley Rockson, MD, FACP, FACC

Dr. Stanley Rockson is the Allan and Tina Neill Professor of Lymphatic Research and Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine. After earning his medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine in Durham, North Carolina, Dr. Rockson completed his internship and residency training in internal medicine at the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital of Harvard Medical School, in Boston, Massachusetts, and fellowship training in the cardiac unit of Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, American College of Angiology, and American College of Physicians, as well as a member of the International Society of Lymphology, American Society of Internal Medicine, the Society of Vascular Medicine and Biology, and the Paul Dudley White Society, among others. As a principal investigator or co-investigator, he has been involved in numerous clinical trials researching various aspects of lymphatic disease, vascular biology and cardiovascular medicine. His basic research involves the investigation of mechanisms of lymphangiogenesis.

As a Professor of Medicine, Dr. Rockson serves concurrently as Stanford’s Chief of Consultative Cardiology and the Director of the Stanford Center for Lymphatic and Venous Disorders.

In addition to contributing numerous articles to professional journals such as Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, Cancer, and American Journal of Medicine, Dr. Rockson is Editor-in-Chief of Lymphatic Research and Biology and sits on the editorial board of Angiology. He has been a frequent, invited lecturer at national and international meetings, congresses, and societies both here and abroad. He is the Chair of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Lymphatic Research Foundation and has served as Chair of the inaugural Gordon Research Conference entitled "Molecular Mechanisms in Lymphatic Function and Disease."

Dr. Rockson has authored more than 90 scientific papers, reviews, book chapters and books devoted to various aspects of lymphatic biology and disease, vascular biology, and cardiovascular medicine.
